Bill Maher’s “Religulous” = Disrespect and Immaturity

i father not seen this movie, nor did i ever plan to. when i first heard about the movie, it seemed like something i would find offensive, not because i am religious, per se, but because i esteem each person’s front to take it in what he/she chooses. this is the perspicacity why i do not understand conflict between religious groups. if you believe in god, you should believe that he/she is everyone’s god. there are a lot of small differences and manmade rules involved in religion, but i fantasize that you have to be clever to look past all of that and simply determine what and if you confidence in. that being said, i sour infrequently to my utter disdain for bill maher and his new silver screen, “religulous.” i had the displeasure of viewing a clip/preview of this movie online (not my choice, i was sitting with someone who wanted to see the preview). i have to say that within the first twenty seconds or so, i was properly nauseated and offended by what i byword. i improvise it is interesting to study different cultures, religions, societies, and examine the differences, even if you do not agree with the teachings or practices of such. and if a filmmaker, performer, or writer wants to raise valid points adjacent to aspects of a particular faith that he/she finds atrocious or extreme, that would be his/her right. however, this film is not so much a study of religions, as it is a complete mockery of them. just as it is maher’s right to be an atheist and not be shown disrespect for his lack of belief, it is each person’s right to believe in what he/she chooses and not be shown disrespect because of it. bill maher evidently does not feel this route. his handling of this film is revolting. he blatantly shows a complete lack of attentiveness for anyone who practices any genus of religion. stream, according to a gallup international millennium survey, eighty-seven percent (87%) of the world’s population believes in some shape of religion or demigod. so maher, you have now offended at least 87% of the existence. and actually, since those of us who do not practice religion but do practice well of and variation may also be offended by your large screen, you be dressed actually alienated a much higher percentage of the population. i daresay your film is offensive and disrespectful to everyone (except for the sake of people like yourself who may reflect on that it is okay to treat others with complete disregard).

How’s Our Driving?

Videogum launched on April 8th of “last” year, and the last nine months have been pretty fun, at least for me. I won’t speak for Lindsay. I think Lindsay is kind of miserable, actually. Her latest box cat post is obviously a cry for help. BUT ANYWAY. At this point we’re three-trimesters into this, and I think we’re really starting to get our blog legs.

But we always want to get better. So this is your chance to let us know what you’d like to see us do differently. Let’s make the Videogum of 2009 the best Videogum yet. Do you have a great idea for a recurring feature? Is there a subject you wish we’d write about more? Are there amazing TV shows we’re missing? Let us know, either in an email or in the comments.

Personally, I’d like to see us cover first-run movie-theater movies more. We have a tendency to write about trailers and not follow up on the actual product. So hopefully we’ll do some more of that. We’ve gotten lots of requests (seven requests!) to bring Double Dog back, and download thriller movie we are working on that. There will definitely be new Double Dogs (or is it Doubles Dog? Grammar is hard!) in January. POST-CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. But you guys should send us ideas for those, because they can be hard to come up with. Lindsay particularly enjoys suggestions that involve her singing or dancing on camera, so send lots of those.
